This was my first attempt at dyeing wool. I didn't like the colour of the newborn PP I had made the bubs. The day before I went into labour I decided to try and dye them using food colouring. I was aiming for graduated colours of green. I ended up with lime green, mid forest green, dk forest green.
Unfortunately the colour was not set very well on the bottom of the legs and we learnt the hard way that the colour runs onto sheets once the longies get wet LOL! I have decided to just use these longies for day use when Cadence doesn't sleep as long and therefore is not as wet by changing time. This is a Blog to detail my exploits in knitting and my yarn addiction. In particular it will detail my crafty creations from the worlds of knitting and sewing.

Needle Roll
Recently Finished Projects (most recent to oldest):
Needle Roll
I had some fun making this needle roll today after getting my last order of Addis in the mail.

I used the instructions from this website I found http://lupinbunny.blogspot.com/2007/02/needle-roll-tutorial.html and I made only a few minor adjustments.
If anyone is thinking of making one of these I would suggest counting how many of each type of needle you have before sewing the pockets on though. I was too eager to finish as my preggy belly and back were getting very sore from sitting.
If I had a do-over, these are the things I would do differently:
- 30cm Addi circs would fit better in a 3" pocket than a 2" one like I used.
- I would also make the bottom two pockets 1" longer and possible even put another pocket row in, as I don't have many really long needles.

Newborn Longies – Curly Purly waistband on Picky Pants
These longies are knitted in the round on 4.5mm circular needles with 3.5mm & 4mm circular needles for the Curly Purly waistband. I used 100g (152m) of 'Marilyn' 10 Ply superwash Merino from Live2Knit in the Tutti Frutti colourway. The colours remind me of fruit tingles LOL!
I did the PP short rows and added width to the waist to allow for growth. For the cuffs of the longies I used part of a crochet headband design by Tracey of 'Desert Rose Designs'. I had some wool left so I made a beanie with crochet flowers that match those I put on the pants.

I did the 3 single CP short rows and added width to the waist to allow for growth. For the cuffs of the longies I did picot edging. To embellish I used 3 colours of tapestry wool to crochet some flowers. I used large 6 petal flowers, medium 5 petal flowers and small 4 petal flowers.
I had some wool left over so I made a headband to match as well. The design for this came from Tracey of 'Desert Rose Designs'. I may add some flowers to this once I am sure the circumference is correct.

Sewing Update
I got stuck on my Curly purly waistbands and had to find another project so I have been sewing up a storm the last few days.
For others:
I made an 'intro to cloth set' for a friends baby shower today. I made 6 NB/S prefolds, 4 were Flanelette (2,6,2), and 2 were flanelette & terry (2 pieces of flanelette with a soaker made of 2 pieces of terry inside). I also made her 2 flanelette/terry wipes (25x25) to match and gave her a Bummis NB cover plus some other new BB wipes I had bought. They turned out pretty well, but I forgot to take a photo unfortunately.
For me :
I had previously made 2 boosters out of my bamboo fleece plus 2 bamboo fold-ups (all 2 thick, fleece side out). These turned out with a very stretched edge and I was quite dissapointed at the time. I have since given these another hot wash and dry and they seem to be less stretched out now. This has given me more confidence sewing with stretchy material and I am nearly ready to start working with the bamboo again. I thought I might try making some prefolds next week using my new bamboo terry.
I have also been making some prefolds and wipes for bub with flanelette and terry. So far I have made prefolds, 4 Flanelette/terry and 4 flanelette (all with 2x terry soaker pads inside). The wipes have all been flanelette (2 thick) so far (6 in total), but I am going to try some more flanelette/terry soon though.
